If you plant Bermuda grass… you’re going to get Bermuda grass.

If you plant Fescue… you’re going to get Fescue.

This isn’t rocket science, right? You reap what you sow. You get what you plant.

But… did you know that the same patterns are true when it comes to your marketing?

If you create marketing and advertising that is attractive to low-quality clients… you’re going to get low-quality clients.

Who Are You Targeting?

If you build a cheap website… you’re going to attract cheap clients.

If you always spend the least-possible amount on your marketing… you’re going to attract clients who want to spend the least-possible amount on YOU.

That’s why this month I’m focused on how to increase your perceived value and position yourself as one of the top landscapers in your market. If you’re tired of only attracting cheap clients, look yourself in the mirror and ask whether you’re behaving “cheaply” yourself – by only investing in low-cost marketing.

In The Digital World, You Get What You Pay For

A cheap website looks like a cheap website! It might be attractive to some clients – because they’re looking for low-cost and your website makes you seem like a low-cost business. But it’s very unattractive to clients who are looking for quality and are willing to pay a bit more for it. It’s unattractive to them because it looks cheap. And if you’re not even willing to create a nice-looking website, they’re going to question whether you can create a nice-looking lawn and landscape for their home!

If you want to be successful in this industry over the long-term… you can’t keep attracting cheap clients. You can’t keep underbidding jobs. You need a healthy profit margin so that you can afford to hire a quality team, invest in new equipment, and still make a nice living for yourself and your family.

To attract better clients – who are willing to pay you higher prices – you have to invest in yourself.

You have to create a quality website. You need to advertise. You need to create a social media presence. You need to get reviews from happy clients.

You reap what you sow… so start “planting” better marketing today and you’ll begin to attract better clients tomorrow.
